Greer, SC, is a small town with a lot going on. Lying northwest of Greenville, between Greenville and Spartanburg, Greer actually covers a large span of land from Lake Robinson in the north to just south of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. With a vibrant town center and active city events planning, Greer has become a destination of its own.

Greer has an appeal all its own. Close enough to Greenville to be convenient but far enough away to have its own vibe, Greer stands out with a full slate of happenings and places to see and be seen. Greer neighborhoods offer everything from custom lakeside residences to tiny home communities, golf resorts, and meandering subdivisions. Greer’s convenient location, varied real estate offerings, and long list of entertainment and shopping options make it worth a look.

Not to be missed

Food wise, Greer has something for every palette. You can take your pick at Cartwright Food Hall, enjoy a leisurely coffee at Barista Alley, have lunch at The Bleu Porch, or have a grand meal at DellaVenturas.

In recent years, they City of Greer has upped the ante on event planning. With food truck gatherings, movie nights, outdoor concerts, farmers markets, seasonal parades and celebrations, and more, there is always something happening in Greer.

Automotive fans will love that there are two BMW museums to visit: the BMW Zentrum and the BMW Car Club of America’s Ultimate Driving Museum. If you really have the need for speed, you can do a hot lap on the track at the BMW Performance Center.

Don’t forget about Taylors, SC

Taylors is an unincorporated area to the northwest of the city of Greenville. Although Taylors lacks a well-defined downtown area, there are interesting places to visit here and an abundance of housing for those seeking real estate near Greenville. From a converted mill that harkens back to the region’s textile past to a well-defined shopping corridor, Taylors is worth a look for those seeking a home in the Upstate.

  • An excellent option for those seeking larger lots and potential mountain views

Highlights

Taylors is largely residential, offering everything from newer townhomes to golf-course lots in planned subdivisions, sturdy mid-century homes, and extensive suburbs. Sandwiched between Greenville and Greer, Taylors residents are never far from the fun in both places. Shopping along Wade Hampton Boulevard includes everything from big box stores to independent, locally-owned businesses.

Not to be missed

Taylors Mill, originally a bleachery and printworks, has been re-imagined as a multi-use facility that houses a brewery, fitness studio, a retro arcade, a destination restaurant, and a stellar coffeehouse and roastery. New tenants are making Taylors Mill home all the time, so it’s worth seeing what’s new there.

Featuring ice skating, hockey, curling, shaded tennis courts, and a bounce house, the Pavilion Recreation Complex has something for the whole family.
